We are a small independent, family business, established in 1982 and operate from our home in the picturesque village of Tyninghame, close to the John Muir Country Park.

We provide a very personal service even though the business has expanded in size. Each customer, from the buyer of one hamper, to the largest corporate customer, is afforded the same high level of service. We have a long record of customer satisfaction of which we are, understandably, proud.

Our range of products and gifts represent the very best of quality, together with excellent service and attention to detail. These guiding principles still apply even though the business has increased.

Founder members, Gordon and Angela Stewart are both actively involved in the company and combine their expertise and imagination to provide Scottish food and gifts from the inexpensive end of the market to the most luxurious to meet your specification. Their daughter Fi, now Sales Director of the company, assists greatly with the running of the business not only on the sales side but with the Farmers Markets stalls in the central belt (Stirling, Perth, Cupar, St Andrews, Kirkcaldy and Linlithgow).

John Muir, (1838-1914) the father of conservation, was born in Dunbar and loved the natural beauty of his hometown and grew fonder and fonder of wild places and wild things. We too, encompass the many doctrines of John Muir and have a strong belief and interest in ‘all things natural’. That’s why at John Muir Country Store we only offer you the very best.

The John Muir Country Store works in close association with The John Muir Trust, helping to raise funds for the preservation of John Muir’s beloved “wilderness” and create awareness of his dreams and ideals for the protection of the world’s wildlife future.
